30mm Profile Alloy Clincher Wheelset
Previously only available to select markets, the Garda is now available to the public. The Garda is a robust, smooth-rolling wheel that can provide the longevity of a training wheel with the heart of a racing wheel. A simple and classic setup of a low profile pinned rim laced to a cartridge bearing hub with a sexy new duplex spoke pattern lays the foundation of a great wheel that just keeps on going, mile after mile and year after year.
The Garda uses two types of bearings in the rear hub. Two cartridge bearings complement two high quality Cup and Cone bearings. Replaceable ball bearings offer incredible longevity and impressive smoothness, while the cartridge bearings offer easy replacement. Together, the four bearings provide a stable feel and improve power transfer, especially for sprinting and climbing.
The Garda DS is as strong as our ever popular Como model, the main difference is that the hub has better water proofing due to the use of sealed bearings and some riders prefer the ability to replace cartridge type bearings rather than to maintain a cup and cone configuration like the Como hubs feature.
been riding these wheel since December for weekend rides and commute duties, I'm of the large stature and after constantly having to re-true my last wheel set I can say it's great not to have to even touch these. the hub bearings are fantastic also, smooth and fast.
I have only one gripe though was the rim join on the rear wheel was sticking out a little. It was an easy fix, I had to file down the brake surface as it had a raised trailing edge and the outer rim edge sat high. Not a big deal but I'm taking one star off for that. Overall, very happy.Jason (May 24 2014, 13:30 PM)
Like you're riding on rails
Very strong, and they roll excellently. Replaced my aksium race wheels with these, have much more confidence in my ride now :-)Lewis (Dec 28 2013, 08:14 AM)
34km/ph average for 102kms!
I am lov'in my new Garda wheel set. I found a few pothole that wern't called on the 102 km to the coast on the weekend and they just soaked them up. Ride was good constant headwind but it wasn't too strong. I managed a 2:59 for the 102km. Hopefully next year I will be under 100kg and might be riding on some Merano's.Colin Campbell (Oct 21 2013, 11:08 AM)
